Knighton farming family helped by welfare charity

A welfare charity for the farming industry has seen a dramatic increase in the number of working families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (Rabi) has traditionally helped retired farmers and workers.

The amount of help given by Rabi Cymru in the first six months of this year is 84% higher than for the same period in 2015.

Nearly a third of help had gone to farmers in Brecon and Radnor.

Fiona Jones runs a farm near Knighton in Powys with her son Rhys.

The family was given practical assistance by Rabi when Mrs Jones's husband Simon was diagnosed with cancer. He died late last year.
