Plumes of smoke as Port Talbot tyre plant burns

A large fire has been burning throughout the night at a tyre recycling plant in Port Talbot, with plumes of smoke visible for miles.

More than 70 firefighters and other emergency crews are at the scene near Docks Road after a fire broke out just before 23:00 BST on Tuesday.

At its height, 21 appliances and more than 100 firefighters were needed to tackle the blaze.

The fire service said the incident was particularly complex as it involved deep seated fires within a large quantity of waste tyres and may take some time to deal with.
