Cardiff mental hospital 'no longer bleak place'
A new £88m mental health unit is opening near Cardiff which aims to bring a "calming, warming and welcoming" environment for patients.
The new facilities at Hafan y Coed on the University Hospital Llandough site include individual bedrooms.
These are not currently available at Whitchurch Hospital, where the mental health unit is closing after 108 years next month.
Romy Wood has manic depression and has been a short-stay patient at Whitchurch in the past.
She was given a look at the new facilities and said they were a complete contrast to the bleakness of the old hospital.
