Flexible hours aids care service in Monmouthshire

Most home care services are delivered well, but over the years BBC Wales has reported several times on older people who were neglected by systems under pressure.

Visits to help people wash or dress are sometimes simply not long enough to give good care or appointments are missed completely leaving vulnerable people on their own.

Now a scheme in Monmouthshire has won the praise of the Older People's Commissioner for giving staff control over their own hours, apparently transforming the service they provide.
