Call to stop using steam to ease children's colds

Doctors and nurses have been told not to recommend steam inhalation treatment for children with coughs and colds after several suffered serious burns.

Surgeons at Swansea's Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery have treated children as young as eight months old.

They have written an article for the British Journal of General Practitioners.

Consultant plastic surgeon Sarah Hemington-Gorse said the injuries were "preventable".
