New planning measures to simplify and speed up process

Measures will be published later that aim to simplify and speed up the planning process.

The Planning Bill will give Welsh ministers powers to decide on applications for developments deemed to be of national significance.

It also aims to establish a more consistent system across Wales' planning authorities.

Minister Carl Sargeant said he wants to move away from a system that puts barriers in the way of proposals.

Roisin Willmott, director for the Royal Town Planning Institute Cymru, explained more to Felicity Evans on BBC Radio Wales.
