Lord German: Sacking of Alun Davies raises 'big issues'

Environment minister Alun Davies was sacked from his post on Tuesday after asking civil servants for private financial information on opposition assembly members.

On Wednesday AMs will debate an opposition motion calling for an independent adjudicator to oversee the ministerial code.

The opposition parties say the current system gives too much power to the first minister in judging whether the code has been broken.

Lord German, a former deputy first minister and ex-Welsh Liberal Democrat leader, told BBC Radio Wales these were "big issues" which raised questions over the way the Welsh government was run.
