Snowdonia surf school tested in Spain

A surf centre that has the go-ahead in Snowdonia already has a test version in Spain.

Conwy councillors last month approved plans for the first commercial "wave park" at a former factory site in Conwy Valley.

It is hoped the Surf Snowdonia project, at a former aluminium factory in Dolgarrog, will open in early summer 2015.

The mechanical wave is a world first and is set to transform the sport of surfing, giving it the potential to be considered as an Olympic event.

BBC science correspondent Claire Marshall was given exclusive access to the prototype being developed in Spain.
