Premier League to prosecute pubs in Swansea and Cardiff

The Premier League says it is planning to prosecute pubs in Cardiff and Swansea that it suspects are illegally showing matches using foreign satellite channels.

Matches kicking off at 15:00 GMT on Saturdays are not shown live on UK TV but are often broadcast overseas.

In the last four months its private investigation firm has visited nearly 200 pubs in South Wales.

The League is planning to bring up to 100 prosecutions across Wales and England this season.

BBC Wales understands that the first prosecution will be against the Rhyddings Hotel in the Brynmill area of Swansea.

Paul Martin reports.
