Shale gas 'will not cut bills', expert tells Welsh MPs

MPs on the Welsh Affairs Committee have been told that fracking - which involves extracting gas from shale rocks underground - may not mean a cut in the cost of energy.

Plans for fracking at locations in Wales have met opposition from people fearing earthquakes and water contamination.

Supporters say it could mean a cut in bills, but an expert said that even if the technique can be used in Wales it would only have a marginal effect on what customers pay.

BBC Wales parliamentary correspondent David Cornock told Jamie Owen what the MPs heard.
