Eisteddfod: Welsh learner finalist Darran Lloyd

The Welsh learner of the year will be announced at the National Eisteddfod in Denbigh on Wednesday.

There are four finalists, including Darran Lloyd, from Aberdare, who has been learning Welsh for nearly four years.

He works as a trainer with South Wales Police, and teaches the force's entry-level Welsh course.

Last year, he managed to speak Welsh to his grandfather before he died. Before his death, his grandfather asked Darran to enter the Welsh learner of the Year competition.

Darran spoke to BBC Radio Wales.
