Tobacco display ban comes into force in Wales

A ban on big shops and supermarkets in Wales displaying tobacco has begun.

From Monday, cigarettes and other tobacco products have to be kept below the counter or out of customers' sight.

It is supposed to remove the temptation for young people to take up smoking, but supermarket chain Morrisons is opposed to the move.

BBC Radio Wales presenter Bethan Rhys Roberts spoke to Irish Times health correspondent Paul Cullen to see what effect a similar ban in Ireland has had on the population, and Virginia Berridge, professor of history at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
