Your questions: Prof Alex Kemp

The first North Sea oil came ashore almost 38 years ago, and since then, more than 40 billion barrels have been extracted.

During those same four decades Professor Alex Kemp has specialised in research in the field of petroleum economics, looking in detail at licensing and taxation issues.

He is currently professor of petroleum economics, while director of the Aberdeen Centre for Research in Energy Economics and Finance at the University of Aberdeen.

And he is also the man who advises the UK government and the Scottish government on forecasts for oil production and revenue.

In the latest BBC Scotland webcast on issues surrounding the independence debate, Prof Kemp answers questions from readers.
