Aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth ready to set sail

The Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier has been preparing to leave its dock at Rosyth for the first time.

HMS Queen Elizabeth cost £3bn, weighs 65,000 tonnes and measures 280m by 75m.

The ship will begin sea trials before commencing service.

Captain Jerry Kyd told the BBC "it's not just a ship but a sea base" that will serve as a flexible, powerful asset that can be used in a range of missions.
