Mary Logie murder: Addict neighbour Sandra Weir convicted

A heroin addict has been found guilty of murdering her 82-year-old neighbour in Fife.

Sandra Weir had been stealing money from Mary Logie to fund her drug habit.

She battered the pensioner to death in Mrs Logie's home, in Leven, last January.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Mrs Logie had suffered multiple head wounds, possibly inflicted by a heavy rolling pin.

Det Ch Insp Keith Hardie, of Police Scotland, said there was no doubt that: "Sandra Weir targeted a vulnerable and elderly member of the community".
