Former youth football coach Hugh Stevenson accused of child abuse

A former Scottish youth football coach and assistant referee at the highest level of the game has been accused of child abuse.

Pete Haynes, 50, claims Hugh Stevenson sexually abused him over a three to four-year period from 1979.

He waived his entitlement to anonymity to speak to BBC Scotland.

Hugh Stevenson, who died in 2004, was a Scottish Football Association accredited match official who coached hundreds of boys with youth teams in Glasgow and Renfrewshire over a period of three decades.
