Newly elected First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to 'govern for all people'

Nicola Sturgeon has been elected as Holyrood's nominee for first minister of the Scottish Parliament.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie stood against the incumbent first minister.

The SNP leader took 63 votes against her rival's five and 59 who abstained.

Addressing MSPs during the first session of Parliament since the election, Ms Sturgeon promised to "govern for all people" and to lead a "bold, ambitious and creative" government.

The first minister elect will be appointed by the Queen and sworn in at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
