MSP Mary Scanlon makes plea for 'decent coffee' at Holyrood
The standard of coffee served to MSPs who sit on committees has been raised in the Scottish Parliament.
During a discussion on reducing the amount of food waste in the parliament, Scottish Conservative MSP Mary Scanlon said she would like to dispose of the coffee, adding that she was raising the matter on behalf of her colleagues across the chamber.
To some amusement the SNP's Linda Fabiani answered, as a representative of the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body which oversees such matters, saying: "I think we're very lucky getting coffee in committee. I mean it's hard times now."
The East Kilbride MSP went on to outline the work that had gone into ensuring that the best coffee is served which included tasting sessions and suggested that the parliament could provide water for "nice" coffee bags.
