Injured paraglider dangles from Arran cliff face

The rescue of a paraglider who had been left dangling from a cliff face after he crashed has been caught on camera.

A mid-air collision left one man tumbling to the ground, with suspected spinal damage, and only the strings of his parachute to prevent him from falling off the cliff.

Two paragliders managed to reach him but the precarious situation meant HMS Gannet's search and rescue team were hampered in their rescue attempt.

Watch Countryside 999 on BBC One Scotland on Monday at 11:00 to see how the rescue unfolded.
