Torness power station's lifespan extended to 2030

Scotland's biggest nuclear power station is to continue operating until 2030, seven years longer than planned.

French energy firm EDF. who operate the Torness plant. say the decision follows "extensive technical and safety reviews".

The site, near Dunbar, had been due to be decommissioned in 2023 - the same year when EDF-owned Hunterston B nuclear power station in North Ayrshire is due to close.

BBC Scotland environment correspondent David Miller reports from East Lothian.
