Flood defences save Brechin from recent storms

The heavy rains of the last few weeks have brought misery to many communities with rivers bursting their banks and homes left feet deep in flood water.

Attention has been focussed on what needs to be done to protect people and property from flooding.

There are more than 40 flood protection schemes planned for Scotland over the next five years, costing more than £200m.

BBC Scotland's Andrew Anderson has been to see one partially-built scheme in Brechin which withstood the worst of Storm Henry.
