Drinking limits for men reduced to 14 units each week

Men have been advised to drink no than 14 units of alcohol a week in new guidelines issued by the UK's chief medical officers.

The upper limit remains unchanged for women. Experts say new evidence shows the risk of cancer increases in line with alcohol consumption.

Dr Catherine Calderwood, Scotland's Chief Medical Officer, advises against binge drinking and recommends having alcohol-free days each week.
