Huge rock blown up above the A83

A 150-tonne boulder has been blown up in a controlled explosion above the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful.

Engineers carried out the explosion on Wednesday afternoon by inserting explosives into a series of small holes in the 4m by 4m rock.

Bear Scotland have said the debris, the largest of which is about a third of the size of the original boulder, means the A83 will remain closed around the Rest and Be Thankful, while the Old Military Road will reopen on Thursday morning.
