Fully-operational Beauly-Denny power line in 85 seconds

A new power line stretching from Inverness to Denny has been carrying electricity along its entire 137-mile length.

Energy firms have said it will help to keep the lights on for decades.

Critics have argued that the line and its access roads have blighted the Scottish landscape.

The line has been switched on in stages, with the first section going live in July 2013.
