Alcohol-related incidents risk lives say ambulance staff

Ambulance staff have said alcohol is a factor in more than half of all the incidents they attend at weekends and almost as many evening calls during weekdays.

The Scottish Ambulance Service has issued a plea to festive party-goers to make sure they do not cause unnecessary callouts which could delay an ambulance getting to a genuine emergency.

Paramedic Kirsteen Buchanan told the BBC that this can put lives at risk.
