Street of lights kicks off Edinburgh's festivities

A huge festive light installation has been switched on in Edinburgh.

More than 60,000 lights have been used to create the 19m-high Street of Light which stretches from the City Chambers to Tron Kirk.

Organisers are expecting up to 250,000 people to attend the free ticketed event that runs until 24 December.

The light show has been synchronised to recordings by the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, Edinburgh Gay Men's Chorus, the Edinburgh Choral Union and Edinburgh Police Choir.
