New operator promises better East Coast service

Rail passengers travelling to London from Scotland on the East Coast Mainline are being promised shorter journey times and a more reliable services.

Labour and the unions have said the UK government's decision to award the east coast franchise to Virgin Trains and Perth-based transport company, Stagecoach, is on the wrong tracks.
