Scottish independence: Energy costs heat up referendum debate

A new report has said that independence would give Scotland new powers to tackle fuel poverty and high energy costs.

The Expert Commission on Energy Regulation, which was set up by the Scottish government, has also said that a single electricity market should be maintained across Britain in the event of a "Yes" vote in September's referendum.

First Minister Alex Salmond has welcomed the findings but the UK government has warned that independence would lead to higher bills.

BBC Scotland's environment correspondent David Miller reports.
