Scotland's future: EU 'difficulty' claim rubbished by SNP

An SNP MP has rubbished suggestions that it would be difficult for an independent Scotland to join the EU.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso told the Andrew Marr programme membership for Scotland would be "extremely difficult, if not impossible".

But speaking on Pienaar's Politics on 5live, Angus MacNeil, the SNP's Western Isles MP, said he thought that was nonsense, and not allowing an independent Scotland into the EU would be a "new and revolutionary step".
