Leader of the House pays tribute to Jo Cox in the Commons

Leader of the Commons David Lidington paid tribute to murdered Labour MP Jo Cox, on the day after her killer was jailed for life.

Mr Lidington also paid tribute to Mrs Cox's family for their "unbelievable grace, dignity and courage" and urged MPs to stand up for parliamentary democracy in the face of "violence and extremism".

Thomas Mair shot and stabbed to death the mother-of-two in Birstall, West Yorkshire, on 16 June, a week before the EU referendum vote.
