McDonnell says Churchill was a 'villain' over Tonypandy riots

Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has called Sir Winston Churchill a "villain" over his role in dealing with striking miners in 1910.

When asked for a one-word answer on whether the wartime prime minister was a hero or villain at a Politico event, he paused before replying: "Tonypandy - villain".
