NHS in 'serious crisis,' says Labour's Ashworth

The NHS in England faces "a serious crisis", shadow health secretary Jonathan Ashworth tells the BBC News channel, as hospitals cancel all non-urgent operations.

NHS officials say the move is a planned response to severe winter pressures and not evidence of a health care crisis.
