Election 2017: Labour's Thornberry 'wrong' over Trident review

Labour's shadow defence secretary Nia Griffith says shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry was "wrong" to suggest the party might drop its commitment to Trident.

Ms Thornberry had been asked on LBC whether the nuclear deterrent would still be Labour policy after the defence review the party would carry out if it won the election.

Ms Griffith told Newsnight that Labour was "absolutely committed" to Trident and that nobody had raised the issue of removing it from the manifesto.
