Shadow home secretary Diane Abbott: This isn't 'voting with the Tories'

A Labour shadow minister has resigned after party leader Jeremy Corbyn told his MPs to back legislation that will trigger the UK's divorce from the EU.

Other Labour MPs and frontbenchers have also suggested they will defy the three-line whip, saying they need to represent their constituents in areas where more people voted Remain in the referendum.

Shadow home secretary Diane Abbott tells Radio 4's Today that voting to invoke Article 50 is not a question of "voting with the Tories" but about getting the Brexit process started.
