Blunkett backs mandatory passports for all UK adults

David Blunkett calls for mandatory passports for all those over the age of 16.

Speaking to the Westminster Hour's John Beesley, the former Labour home secretary said: "If I'd had my time again, I would just say that every 16-year-old upwards should have a passport who are British citizens".

Lord Blunkett added it was important for the government to hold a central register of all British citizens or else risk "burying our heads in the sand" on concerns over security, immigration and the use of public services.
