Iain Duncan Smith: Trump's win is a 'real opportunity'

Iain Duncan Smith says the victory of Donald Trump is a "real opportunity" for the UK to "reinvigorate" its relationship with the United States.

Speaking to BBC Newsnight's Nicholas Watt, the former Conservative Party leader and former work and pensions secretary, said the relationship between the two countries had "pretty much been in the freezer" for the past eight years.

"Brexit means we are now freer to make arrangements," he said. "If we are close to the United States... I think the world would be a safer and better place."
