David Cameron: 'I don't want to be a distraction for Theresa May'

The former prime minister David Cameron has announced he is to resign as an MP. He currently holds the Oxfordshire seat of Witney.

Mr Cameron said he did not want to be a distraction for Theresa May.

On the question of Brexit, Mr Cameron said he had kept his "pledge to hold a referendum".
