John McDonnell: 'It is about regaining the public's trust'

Labour has announced what it calls a new "fiscal credibility rule".

This will oblige any future Labour government to balance "day-to-day" spending with the amount it raises in taxes.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell said: "It is about regaining the public's trust with the public finances".
