UKIP's Douglas Carswell calls for Nigel Farage to step down

UKIP needs "fresh face" as leader, the party's only MP Douglas Carswell has claimed.

The Clacton MP said the party needs a leader who radiates "sunshine and optimism" to reinvigorate the party but rejected claims he wants the job himself.

His comments came in an interview with broadcaster Nihal Arthanayake, as part of a BBC Essex documentary to be aired in 2016.
