David Lammy: Syria bombing will create new extremists

David Lammy, Labour MP for Tottenham, said going ahead with air strikes in Syria would create a whole new generation of extremists.

He told the Commons, the recent terror attacks by so-called Islamic State were designed to bait the UK into a "Holy War". He warned the UK to "tread then very very gently".

He went on to say "the truth is civilians will die".

He said he would not be voting in favour in air strikes as there was not an effective ground force and believed a vacuum would be created in the area.
