Back the airstrikes: the telephone calls to Labour MP's

Senior ministers are spending the weekend phoning Labour MPs to press the case for air strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria.

David Cameron has said he will not hold a Commons vote on the issue until he is confident of securing a majority but the shadow cabinet remains divided.

The Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, has emailed party members seeking their opinions and restating his view that the Prime Minister has failed to make a convincing case for military action.
