Crispin Blunt: UK should join coalition on Syria

Crispin Blunt, Conservative MP and chairman of the foreign affairs select committee, said he believed the UK should join the coalition carrying out air strikes over Syria.

He said the "immediate" and "overriding" priority should be getting the politics right in Iraq and Syria, adding they must not "lose focus on Baghdad".

Mr Blunt's committee recently urged caution over pressing for a vote on intervention.

His comments came during the prime minister's statement proposing air strikes in Syria to fight so-called Islamic State.
