Blunkett on Fallon immigration 'swamped' comments

A former Labour home secretary said he used the "swamped" word over immigration while he was in power,

David Blunkett was reacting to comments this weekend by Tory cabinet minister Michael Fallon that parts of the UK risk becoming "swamped" by immigrants.

But he told Jo Coburn on the Daily Politics that "overwhelmed" meant the same, and why that would have been a better choice of word when talking about schools and doctor's surgeries in Sheffield.

Mr Blunkett said: "I used the word swamped 12 years ago... and I was not told off by Downing Street".
