More bias needed in BBC news says Alain de Botton

The news "takes itself very seriously " said the author Alain de Botton who criticised the reporting of the UK floods, claiming journalists made it look catastrophic.

And he called for "more bias" and "good bias" in BBC news reports, as he said the broadcaster liked to sit on the fence on big issues.

He debated with journalist Fiona Phillips, and Daily Politics presenter Jo Coburn after they had watched a film on how news is reported.
