Sochi Olympics: John Amaechi on gay rights and sport

Sport is "intrinsically political" and the world is watching the Sochi games, said the former basketball player John Amaechi.

Amaechi, one of the world's most high profile gay sportsmen, said Olympic competitors should highlight the games were taking part "on the backs of the torture of young gay boys and girls" in Russia.

In his personal film for BBC One's This Week, he said those who said nothing about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues would be "tainted by that decision".
