David Winnick on MPs and the good old days of politics
Polling shows there was a golden age when MPs were seen as upstanding men and women of integrity, who had respect from the voters.
But David Winnick, who was elected as an MP in 1966, says they were held up to as much ridicule and contempt then as they seem to be today.
Daily Politics reporter David Thompson also spoke to Dr Rosie Campbell, senior lecturer in politics at Birkbeck College, to ask if their electors hark back to the good old days.
