Cameron defends decision to attend Commonwealth summit

David Cameron has defended his decision to attend the Commonwealth summit in Sri Lanka.

In a statement to Parliament, the prime minister said "I chose to go and stand up for our values and do all I could to advance them. That was I believe the right decision for Sri Lanka, for the Commonwealth and for Britain".
