George Osborne: 'No-one will get something for nothing'
The long-term unemployed will have to undertake work placements in return for their benefits, under new rules unveiled by George Osborne at the Conservative Party conference.
From April, people who are jobless after being on the work programme will face three options, including community work, or risk losing their benefits altogether.
In his speech to the conference, the chancellor said ''no-one will be ignored or left without help - but no-one will get something for nothing.''
