Government hails 'spectacular' fall in recorded crime
The government has welcomed a "spectacular" drop in crimes recorded by police in England and Wales.
Home Office Minister Jeremy Browne hailed the fall of 7% in the year ending March 2013 as "genuine achievement" based on figures from the Office for National Statistics.
During an interview he said: "The police are getting smarter, more efficient and using their resources better and all of that has led to real tangible improvements."
