Security and email claims: Lord West and Dominic Raab
There was a "paranoia" over UK security services reading emails, but its staff "struggle like mad to look after us" said former Security Minister Lord West.
The Labour peer claimed "people want their cake and eat it" over security and privacy, as they wanted child pornographers caught but had fears over recording internet use.
Conservative MP Dominic Raab said there should be a "worry" over US surveillance on British citizens and the use of that information by UK agencies who would not be legally allowed to do such work themselves.
They spoke after the Guardian published stories based on leaked information from former CIA employee Edward Snowden.
